Montreal-based Transcontinental has bought Acquizition.biz, a web-based platform for buying and selling businesses and finding strategic partners.
The ad-supported site has about 1,500 listings in over 20 sectors and connects business people confidentially. The tool has about 40,000 members selling small and medium-sized businesses.
Transcontinental Media VP business publications and book publishing Pierre Marcoux says the platform will help the company serve targeted communities of business people and entrepreneurs.
Marcoux tells MiC that Transcontinental will honour any and all advertising contracts held by Acquizition, and he expects ‘there will be opportunities for additional advertising clients to use this platform to reach their target audience.’ He says the 40,000 members are from Canada, except for a couple of hundred from outside the country.
The site receives all of its traffic from its 40,000 members (membership is free). About half of those members visit the site each month. There are between 400,000 and 450,000 page views each month at Acquizition.biz, and about 10-12 new listings each day.
‘Integrating a digital platform like this with Transcontinental’s business publications truly complements our offering for this community,’ he adds.
