Stanley Cup puts CBC at #1

The CBC's average minute audience for the Stanley Cup Finals didn't quite crack the two million mark, but it was enough to leap over other programming numbers.

Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+; all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen, for May 26-June 1.

Hockey: The CBC’s Stanley Cup Finals hit #1 and attracted an average minute audience of 1.979 million viewers for the Monday, Wednesday and Saturday broadcasts. On the same nights, the Stanley Cup Postgame coverage, taking #4 on this week’s chart, recorded a 1.369 million average.

News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm hit #5 with 1.235 million (down from 1.366 million on the previous week’s chart). The net’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm took #11 with 1 million (up from 982,000) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. CTV National News at 11 pm hit #22 with 792,000 (down from 923,000). Global’s The Young & The Restless at 4:30 pm took #24 with 775,000 (down from 875,000). Global National at 5:30 pm hit #26 with 726,000 (down from 772,000), while News Hour at 6 pm took #27 with 710,000 (down from 799,000).

Monday: CTV’s CSI: Miami at 10 pm hit #7 with 1.111 million (down from 2.135 million). Global’s House took #15 with 909,000 (down from 2.688 million). CTV’s Criminal Minds at 9 pm hit #17 with 896,000 viewers. Global’s Bones at 8 pm took #21 with 802,000 (down from 1.888 million).

Tuesday: Global’s NCIS at 8 pm won the night, hitting #9 with 1.028 million (down from 1.443 million). CTV’s Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm took #10 with 1.026 million viewers, while Criminal Minds at 9 pm hit #12 with 991,000 and The Moment of Truth at 8 pm took #16 with 908,000.

Wednesday: CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance, airing 8-10 pm, hit #3 with 1.418 million, while CSI: New York at 10 pm hit #6 with 1.231 million (down from 2.05 million).

Thursday: CTV’s Lost at 9 pm hit #2 with 1.448 million viewers (down from the 2.608 million attracted by Grey’s Anatomy the previous week). The net’s So You Think You Can Dance, airing 7-9 pm, took #13 with 976,000 viewers.

Friday: CTV’s Ghost Whisperer at 8 pm hit #28 with 650,000 viewers, while the net’s Without a Trace at 10 pm took #29 with 648,000.

Saturday: CTV’s 6 pm Evening News weekend programming’s Saturday-Sunday average hit #20 with 834,000 viewers (down from 844,000).

Sunday: CTV’s Million Dollar Password at 8 pm hit #8 with 1.096 million viewers, while Cold Case at 9 pm took #14 with 935,000. The net’s Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm hit #18 with 862,000 (down from 1.124 million). CBC’s Sunday night movie at 8 pm hit #19 with 845,000 viewers, while the pubcaster’s Sunday night news at 10 pm took #23 with 790,000. Global’s Family Guy at 9 pm hit #25 with 736,000 viewers, while The Simpsons at 8 pm took #30 with 621,000.
