The Weather Network, owned by Oakville, Ontario-based Pelmorex Media, will deliver real-time traffic data via TV, web, mobile and now a free widget called TrafficEye. The widget is an extension of the mobile app launched in April and joins others already implemented by the net, such as WeatherEye and WeatherEye Golf, which was launched in partnership with Nike Golf late last month.
TrafficEye runs on Windows XP and Vista and aims to optimize users’ travel time by serving up real-time access to local traffic info such as incidents, traffic flow maps, access to over 700 traffic cameras and highway conditions. The Weather Network is initially launching the product for the Greater Toronto Area, and the net plans to roll out with local coverage in major cities across Canada.
