TSN is set to unveil a new, 24-hour digital sports network. TSN2, which will be available in both high and standard definition, will launch on Canadian airwaves on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 pm ET, with exclusive live coverage of the US Open tennis tournament.
‘In today’s age of immediacy, fans crave live coverage of sports,’ says TSN president Phil King. ‘TSN2 will deliver more premium live sports programming while complementing TSN’s already powerful live sports lineup.’
The new digital network promises 800-plus hours of live sports coverage annually, averaging one exclusive live event or game per day; encore telecasts of live TSN programming; and better time slots for Western Canada, based on alternative showings repeated in the Western prime-time slots.
‘TSN2 allows us to air two live events simultaneously, giving sports fans more choice and diversity,’ King explains.
The network’s roster boasts wide-ranging exclusive live sports coverage, including the NHL, CFL, NBA, curling, international hockey, golf, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, IndyCar Series, Grand Slam tennis, Champions League Soccer, boxing, mixed martial arts and NCAA football and basketball.
To create awareness of its new 24-hour counterpart, a comprehensive marketing campaign is in TSN’s game plan. Handled in-house by CTV Creative Agency, it will put into play print, radio, web and outdoor advertising, in addition to a targeted PR campaign, plus daily promotion on TSN and the CTV family of networks.
