Pizza box ads feed gambling addicts

The Responsible Gambling Council has teamed up with Fresh Tracks Media to reach over half a million young Ontarians via pizza boxes.

The Responsible Gambling Council is using pizza box advertising by Toronto-based Fresh Tracks Media to promote its interactive website for young adults, friends4friends.ca, which offers tips to recognize gambling problems.

The pizza boxes will be distributed to approximately 600,000 Ontarians over the next six to eight weeks as part of a larger media strategy including on-campus posters, 30-sec TV ads, washroom ads, online banners and youth-oriented publications by Fuel Advertising.

The multi-tone ads show a young man seated beside a grey-coloured ‘missing’ friend with the text reading: ‘Problem Gambling Can Void a Friendship.’ Peter’s Cajun Creole Pizza, Pizza Memo, Cora’s Pizza, The Big Slice, Paisano’s Pizza and Panini and Cici’s Pizza are among the distributors.

Fresh Tracks Media has an exclusive partnership with the leading distributor of pizza boxes in Canada, which provides them with access to 17 million pie boxes each year.
