So You Think You Can Dance Canada topped its impressive rating performance on Sunday as Montreal’s Nico Archambault was crowned the winner of CTV’s latest homegrown hit.
The two-hour season finale nabbed 1.6 million viewers, peaking at nearly two million when the winner was revealed (all numbers 2+).
Dance Canada premiered in September to 1.2 million and gained popularity, especially with female viewers who accounted for 70% of the total audience. Performance episodes averaged 1.4 million viewers, likely helped by a big push from CTV.
Meanwhile, the show’s top 10 finalists are embarking on a 15-city Canadian tour, getting underway Jan. 30, which will include performances from the first season.
The show is a spinoff from the US version, which debuted in 2005 and has since sparked similar versions in countries such as New Zealand, Turkey, Israel and Greece.
