Global’s Monday lineup has been dealt a blow by Fox, which earlier this week announced that the fourth season of action series Prison Break will be its last.
The high-profile US pickup will begin airing its final episodes on Friday, Apr. 17, moved from Mondays. There’s no word on whether Global, which has aired the series in and out of simulcast since its debut, will follow suit with the new timeslot.
The series, initially meant as a one-season show or mini, became a staple of Global’s fall lineup since its premiere in 2005 in the 8 pm timeslot. The premiere drew 1.3 million viewers in Canada, while 18 million Americans tuned in to Fox. Subsequent episodes regularly clocked in well over the one-million mark for Global.
While Prison Break‘s departure will leave a hole in the fall schedule, Global’s midseason Monday lineup recently got a boost with the return of 24, which will settle into the 9 pm slot, preceded by House, which moves to its new day beginning next week. Heroes, set to return next month, will air at 10 pm.
