VisionTV adds Punjabi sitcom to lineup

The network will begin airing new Punjabi-language, Canadian-made series Teri Meri Duniya in May.

Teri Meri Duniya, a weekly half-hour program produced in BC, will begin airing on VisionTV Saturday, May 2, at 9 am ET. Produced by Surrey, BC-based NetHorizon Productions, the 40-ep Punjabi-language sitcom will run with English subtitles.

The series tells the story of an extended family struggling to adapt to life in BC’s Lower Mainland while preserving their Punjabi traditions. The clash of cultures often leads to chaos, especially when the women of the household begin to assert their new-found social freedom and equality.

VisionTV, which has a weekly reach of over one million households, devotes its Saturday schedule to programming for South Asian Canadians under the brand name Desi Vision, which has 280,000 viewers. The network will promote the new series on its website, VisionTV.ca, and on air.
