YTV and Universal Music looking for Canada’s next star

YTV and Universal Music throw in an EP, as well as a record deal, for the second season of The Next Star.

Corus Entertainment’s YTV is hitting the road again in search of Canada’s young talent, for the second season of The Next Star aimed at kids 6 to 11. This year, Universal Music will also produce a compilation EP showcasing the top six contestants.

Several brands have pitched in to sweeten the pot in season two, with the grand prize winner receiving a record contract with Universal Music, studio time at Mississauga-based Metalworks Studios, an acoustic Gibson Guitar and a showcase at Canadian Music Week to debut new material.

Once the show begins airing on July 17, the YTV website will be the hub of fan interaction where viewers can surf the top six finalist pages, interact with the contestants, download extra content, watch behind the scenes video and cast their votes to determine the winner.
