The CRTC has granted licences for ten new digital channels to Asian Television Network, covering movies, sports and music.
The Toronto-based broadcaster, which currently runs 14 channels aimed at the South Asian community in Canada, recently got the okay for its applications on services – including two channels dedicated to cricket.
‘We are proud of this major addition of three sports services, three news services, two movie, and two music channels to our portfolio of South Asian television services in Canada,’ said ATN’s president and CEO Shan Chandrasekar in a statement.
The licences, all for Category 2 channels, include the Hindi Movie Channel, South Asian News in both Hindi and English and two music channels. ATN has not indicated when the channels will launch.
