Corus announces specialty fall lineups

W Network is debuting new cooking and beauty SOS programs, while CMT and the boomer-targeting Viva are going on the road (or on the stage) with celebrities.

Corus television announced several new shows yesterday for their fall lineups for CMT, W Network and Viva specialty channels.

W Network will feature the world premiere of Eat Yourself Sexy at 9:30 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 2. The half-hour series stars UK native Gillian McKeith, who is ready to help Canadians reclaim their ‘mojo.’ McKeith uses her no-nonsense approach to transform the lives of 13 women (the show runs for 13 episodes) with customized workouts and revamped diets.

Another world premiere for W is Anna and Christina’s Beauty Call, where consumer connoisseurs Anna Wallner and Kristina Matisic help viewers with beauty and fashion tips, on a budget. The show will debut in November.

Also new on W is The New Adventures of Old Christine (Friday, Aug. 31, 7 pm) which is about a 35-year-old divorced mother who co-owns a 30-minute workout gym with her best friend. When she finds out her ex-husband is marrying a younger woman, Christine enters the dating scene.

On CMT, Meet the Wilsons, which premieres Sunday, Sept. 20 at 9 pm, is an eight-part half-hour series about Dave and Kortney Wilson who are pursuing music careers while caring for two small children and hanging out with a single rocker pal who needs a place to crash. Produced by Canada’s RGK One Shot Productions in association with CMT Canada, it will air with two back-to-back episodes for four weeks.

Also new on CMT, which targets women aged 25 to 54, (with a secondary target demo of moms with kids under 17 years old) Unstable is about best friends and business partners Ali and Tammy who go through the emotional journey of building their business, Wendigo Farms, into a world-class equestrian show barn. A six-part series, Unstable premieres Thursday, Oct. 29 at 11 pm, with two half-hour episodes airing back-to-back each week.

Star Crossed is a mash-up of movie stars and guitars, ranches and red carpets, profiling those who have ‘walked the line’ between Nashville and Hollywood (e.g. Reese Witherspoon, Billy Bob Thorton.) The six-part half-hour series produced by Pyramid Productions in association with CMT Canada, will debut Friday, Sept. 18 at 8 pm.

Meanwhile, Viva (which targets women aged 35 to 64) will premiere Fearless in the Kitchen, on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 pm, a half-hour series featuring celebrity chef Christine Cushing who transforms terrible cooks into savvy chefs. Meanwhile, the celebrity-studded Spain…On the Road Again, debuting Sunday, Sept. 6, features well-known occasional vegan Gwyneth Paltrow (pictured), celebrity chef Mario Batali and other notables in the food biz as they embark on a culinary tour of Spain. The show runs for 13 episodes.
