Are you dreaming of a wide selection? Virgin Mobile hopes you are. Four attractive singers, two plaid-clad executive elves and a sexy Santa stopped by Media in Canada this morning to deliver their holiday wishes as part of an OOH stunt that starts today and runs until Sunday. The carolers are ‘mobile’-izing the lyrics to our favourite Christmas tunes to remind shoppers of the mobile operator’s offering.
Last January the folks at Virgin Mobile realized Santa needed to hit the gym if he was to find ‘the sugar cane’ this season, so they put him through 11 months of personal training, coaching and healthy eating. He’s now a stud fit for a soap opera, taking pictures with shoppers at electronics shops in malls across Toronto and Montreal, and passers-by in Kensington Market, the Toronto entertainment district and Montreal’s Berri-UQAM Metro, for instance.
Santa’s executive elves are passing out cards directing consumers to a Facebook page where they can find the photographic evidence of them being naughty with Virgin’s Santa. His appearances are also documented on YouTube and Twitter.
‘From an environmental standpoint alone, Santa’s sheer bulk was becoming an issue,’ says Nathan Rosenberg, CMO, Virgin Mobile Canada, in a release. ‘His carbon footprint was getting as large as his waist size.’
