Western Canada Lottery Corporation and its agency Venture Communications, Calgary, won big at this year’s Crystal Awards, which recognizes the best in Canadian radio creative. The winning spot, ‘Crossword Scratch ‘n Win – Lip Paint’ also won Gold in Performance, as well as additional Craft Awards.

The awards, presented yesterday by the Radio Marketing Bureau, gave away 31 trophies in all. Other Gold winners included Brick Brewing, British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Vancouver Alpen Club, Durham RCC, ABC Canada Literacy Foundation, BMW Canada, Dream Easy Kitchens, 107.5 Dave FM and Curve 94.3 CHUM Radio.

The gala luncheon at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto was hosted by RMB president Gary Belgrave and included performances by pop singer Karl Wolf and jazz artist Jamie Cullen.
