Showcase builds small-town Haven

Based on a Stephen King novella, Haven is a new sci-fi drama set to air on Canwest's Showcase in July.

This summer Canwest will introduce new series Haven, a one-hour sci-fi drama from E1 Entertainment, to its Showcase property.

Based on Stephen King novella The Colorado Kid, Haven is about FBI agent Audrey Parker, played by Emily Rose (ER), who arrives to Haven, ME on a routine case to discover an enclave of people with supernatural abilities.

Canadian Lucas Bryant (Queer as Folk) will play Parker’s quiet and hardened partner as the two deal with the strange events unfolding in the town. Eric Balfour (Six Feet Under, 24) adds mystery to the team as a charming, free-spirited character with a hidden agenda.

Haven targets adults aged 25-to-54, and has been ordered for 13 episodes.

Production is expected to commence this spring in Halifax, and the show will air in July.

Haven, produced in association with Pillar, Segan and Shepherd, will be the first property to be produced for Syfy Channel in the US and NBCU pay channels around the globe (excluding Canada and Scandinavia).
