The numbers are in for the June 14 broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and unsurprisingly, Italy versus Paraguay was the ratings winner of the day, earning 1.136 million viewers for the broadcast and 232,043 live streams on the CBC Sports World Cup microsite.
The 2-0 win by the Netherlands over Denmark earned 488,000 viewers on the Ceeb, but was bested by Japan’s 1-0 win over Cameroon, which marked Japan’s first World Cup win on foreign soil. That match earned 126,379 live streams on CBC.ca. The Netherlands match trailed online in third place for the day, with 66,407 live streams.
