Virgin Mobile has amped up its on-the-go content by becoming the first wireless provider to offer Bell Media’s mobile TV coverage to its customers.
With the new package, Virgin Mobile TV will feature content from channels including MTV, the Comedy Network and the CTV News Channel. Virgin Mobile TV has no current plans of selling its own advertising on the platform, Erica Faltous, PR manager, Virgin Mobile Canada tells MiC, but the programming will feature ads sold through Bell Media.
Bell Media launched its Mobile TV service last Friday and today revealed the pricing for the Mobile TV packages, all $5 except for the tablet package, which is $10. Virgin offers three packages of its own, all priced at $5.
Until April 30, customers who sign up to receive the Virgin Mobile TV sports package, featuring content from channels including TSN and TSN2 get a month for free.
Virgin does not plan to launch a promotional campaign behind the new service, Faltous confirmed.
