BBM Overview: New PPM Ratings

Bray & Partners president David Bray breaks down which radio stations are on top in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.

Rev your engines because the radio landscape is heating up with the latest PPM radio ratings. Today’s radio release from BBM completes the 13-week period covering Feb. 27 to May 27. This marks the 11th 13-week period in the new era of measurement for Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. Let’s take a look at some of the numbers.

Toronto: Bragging rights at the top of the ratings heap go to CHFI-FM with a 13.4% share of hours tuned for A12+ (down from 15.8% last time out). CHUM-FM take the #1 spot with the ladies 25 to 54, delivering a 17.1% share (up from 17%) followed by CHFI-FM posting a 15.5% share (down from 19.9%). Q107 reclaimed the #1 spot for males 25 to 54, posting an 11.7% share (up from 10.6% in the last 13-week book). The Edge holds a substantial edge over the competition with men 18 to 34 turning in a 17.4% share (down from 19%). For women 18 to 34, CHFI-FM tops the list posting an 18.4% (down from 23.5%) share followed by CHUM-FM with a 15% (up from 13.6%) share of hours tuned.

Vancouver: CBC Radio One grabs the #1 spot for A12+ with an 11.4% share of hours tuned (up from 10.8% last time out). Taking the top spot for women 25 to 54 was perennial office station favourite 103.5QM-FM, posting a 15.4% share (down from 19.6%). The Team 1040 holds the lead with men 25 to 54 listeners, delivering an 11.8% share (up from 10%).  The Fox is well out in front for men 18 to 34 with a 21.3% share of hours tuned (up from 18.9%) followed by the Beat at 12.5% (down from 14.1%). When it comes to women 18 to 34, The Beat takes top spot with a 22% share.

Edmonton: CHED rules the roost for A12+ posting a 9.5% share of hours tuned (flat with the same amount last time out). CISN Country takes the top spot for women 25 to 54, delivering an 11.1% share (down from 11.6%). NOW! tops the list for men 25 to 54 with a 12.1% share (down from 12.6%). For men 18 to 34, Sonic 102.9 is out in front with an 18.1% (up from 13.7%) share.

Calgary: QR77 leads the way for A12+ with a 10.6% share (up from 10.5%). 98.5 Virgin is popular with the ladies, taking the #1 spot for women 25 to 54 delivering a 13.4% share (up from 13.3%) followed by Country 105 at 12.9% (up from 11.8%). For men 25 to 54, CJAY92 leads the way with a 10.4% share (up from a 12.3%). CJAY92 also takes top spot for men 18 to 34, posting a 13.8% share (down from 14.6 %) followed by X92.9 with a 12% (down from 14.7%).

Montreal: CHMP 98.5FM is #1 for A12+ with an 18.5% share (up from 17%). CFGL-FM  105.7 Rythme FM is tops with the ladies, taking the #1 spot for women 25 to 54 delivering a 20.7% share (down from 21.2%). For men 25 to 54, CHMP 98.5FM leads the way with a 21.1% share (up from a 17.8%).
