BBM Overview: New PPM ratings

Bray & Partners president David Bray breaks down which radio stations are on top in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Montreal and Calgary.

With summer sneaking up on us, things on the radio landscape are sizzling in the latest PPM radio ratings. The latest radio release from BBM covers the thirteen week period covering February 25th to May 26th.

Toronto: Bragging rights at the top of the ratings heap go to CHFI-FM with a 14.6% share of hours tuned for A12+ (down from 17.1% last time out). CHUM-FM takes the #1 spot with the ladies 25 to 54 delivering a 22.0% share (up from 19.2%) followed by CHFI-FM delivering an 18.6% share (down from 22.7%). Q107 holds the #1 spot for males 25 to 54, posting an 11.1% share (down from 11.8% in the last 13 week book). The Edge leads the way for males 18 to 34 with a 16.5% share (up from 12.8%). For females 18 to 34, CHUM-FM tops the list with a 20.4% (up from 17.4%) share of hours tuned followed by CHFI-FM posting a 20.0% (down from 25.3%) share.

Vancouver: grabs the #1 spot for A12+ with a 10.5% share of hours tuned (up from 9.9% last time out). Taking the top spot for females aged 25 to 54 was perennial office station favourite 103.5QM/FM, posting a 12.0% share (down from 17.0% last time out) followed closely by Virgin 95.3 with an 11.6% share (down from 12.3%). Virgin 95.3 shares the lead for 25- to 54-male listeners, delivering a 9.7 % share (down from 11.0%) in a dead heat with Rock 101 with a 9.7% share (down from 8.1%).  The FOX is out in front for males 18 to 34 with a 13.8% share of hours tuned (up from 11.2%). When it comes to females 18 to 34, The Beat takes top spot with a 16.6% share.

Edmonton: 102.3 NOW! Radio rules the roost for A12+ posting an 11.7% share of hours tuned (down from 12.0%). NOW! Radio also takes top spot for females 25 to 54, delivering a strong 17.1% share (up from 14.8%). With another hat trick NOW! also tops the list for males 25 to 54 with a 14.5% share (down from 15.9%). For males 18 to 34, NOW! posted a 17.6% (up from 17.3%) followed by the Bear at 16.2% (up from 14.2%) and Sonic 102.9 with a 12.4% share (up from 12.2%).

Calgary: CBC Radio One leads the way for A12+ with a 10.5% share (up from 9.9%). Country 105 is popular with the ladies, taking #1 spot for females 25 to 54 delivering a 14.4% share (up from 14.3%). For males 25 to 54, Q107 leads the way with an 8.9% share (up from 8.2%). Country105 takes top spot for males 18 to 34 with an 11.8% share (down from 14.8%). Country 105 is also #1 for females 18 to 34 posting a 19.3 share (up from 18.1%).

Montreal: CHMP 98.5FM is #1 for A12+ with a 17.5% share (down from 16.2%). CFGL-FM 105.7 Rythme FM is tops with the ladies, taking #1 spot for females 25 to 54 delivering a 19.0% share (up from 28.8 %%). For males 25 to 54, CHMP 98.5FM leads the way with an 18.2% share (up from a 16.5%). NRJ 94.3 is #1 for males 18 to 34 with a 15.0% share (down from 17.3%). Virgin Radio96 is #1 for females 18 to 34 with a 25.2% share (up from 23.1%).
