Human Target joins CTV midseason

The newbie action drama will air out of simulcast on Mondays, while a plum post-Idol slot awaits on US broadcaster Fox.

CTV’s midseason schedule will see the addition of Fox’s Human Target, which will run Mondays at 8 p.m. as a lead-in to its comedy block.

The new show, based on the DC Comics title about a bodyguard who assumes the identity of his clients, premieres Friday Jan. 15 at 10 p.m. before moving to its regular out-of-simulcast Monday slot on Jan. 18. There it will face Fox/Global’s House, currently the number one-ranked show on Canuck TV.

In the US, Human Target will debut in the plum 9 p.m. Wednesday slot after Fox powerhouse American Idol – where CBS’ crime drama Criminal Minds will be the one to beat. The show will also launch on Sunday Jan. 17 in the US, as opposed to Friday on CTV.

Comedies Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory will follow the action drama on Mondays.

Meanwhile, the final season of Lost will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in simulcast with ABC – with a strong lead-in from the performance episode of Idol. Thursday’s CTV lineup remains unchanged from fall with CSI airing after The Vampire Diaries in early prime time, followed by Grey’s Anatomy and The Mentalist. Ghost Whisperer, Medium and Flashpoint also return on Fridays.

Big-ticket events include the Golden Globes on Jan. 17 and Super Bowl XLIV on Feb. 7.
