Here are the national champs (for all persons 2+; all times ET) according to BBM/Nielsen for Feb. 16 – 22, 2009:
Monday: House on Global at 8 pm had the largest audience with 2.425 million viewers (it replaces CSI Miami on CTV, which was the most-watched program the previous week with 1.71 million viewers).
Tuesday: American Idol at 8 pm on CTV took the top spot again with a slightly larger audience size of 2.312 million (in its eighth season, the reality show was seen the previous week by 2.286 million viewers).
Wednesday: American Idol results show on CTV at 8 pm brought back 2.219 million viewers (the previous week, the show had 2.249 million viewers who tuned in to find out which contestants got eliminated).
Thursday: Grey’s Anatomy on CTV at 9 pm remains the most popular for the night with 2.352 million viewers (the hospital drama was most-watched the previous week with 2.3 million viewers).
Friday: CTV Evening News at 6 pm was the highest-rated for the day with 1.422 million viewers (it was also most popular the previous Friday with 1.382 million viewers).
Saturday: Hockey Night in Canada on CBC at 7 pm almost doubles in viewership with 1.833 million people tuning in (the show was the most-watched the previous week with just 988,000 viewers).
Sunday: The Academy Awards on CTV, which ran from 8:30 pm to midnight, proved to be a huge hit with 4.465 million viewers – now better known as the most-watched event of the year. The red carpet Oscar pre-show, on CTV at 8 pm, had about half the audience, but with 2.888 million viewers it was still the second most popular of the night. (Amazing Race 14 on CTV was the most-watched program the previous Sunday with 1.959 million viewers).
