Here are the national champs (for all persons 2+; all times ET) according to BBM/Nielsen for Dec. 29, 2008 – Jan. 4, 2009.
Monday: The preliminary round of the World Junior Hockey Championships on TSN at 7:30 pm iced the day with an average minute audience of 1.443 million viewers (replacing Shrek the Halls, a CTV special that had 1.026 million viewers the previous week).
Tuesday: CTV Evening News at 6 pm was back on top with 1.258 million viewers (ousting House on Global, the prior week champ with 1.186 million viewers).
Wednesday: The Air Farce New Year’s Eve special was the most watched program at 8 pm, with 1.523 million viewers (beating out CTV Evening News, which came out on top of the last chart with 1.012 million viewers).
Thursday & Friday: CTV Evening News at 6 pm was the most watched, with 1.258 million viewers (gaining from it’s previous week chart topping 1.012 million viewers).
Saturday: The World Junior Hockey Championship playoffs on TSN had 1.855 million viewers, making it the most-watched program for the week (replacing CTV Evening News Weekend Edition, which had 1.012 million viewers on the prior chart).
Sunday: Desperate Housewives on CTV at 9 pm was the most watched program with 1.512 viewers (replacing CTV’s Sunday evening movie, which had 1.098 million viewers the previous week).
