Cheezy season of Corner Gas set to debut

The sixth and final season of CTV's sitcom Corner Gas will feature brand integration involving Kraft Canada's Cheez Whiz.

Kraft Canada and CTVglobemedia’s CTV are teaming up in a promotional campaign for Corner Gas, including an online contest ‘Showcase Your Cheez Whiz Personality,’ which will give one winner a trip to the show’s series finale party next spring. The campaign will run from Oct. 6 to Dec. 31.

Cheez Whiz is the official broadcast sponsor of the latter part of the show, beginning January 2009, and the ripely comedic iconic Cheez brand will be incorporated into the storyline of an episode, a deal arranged by media agency Mediavest.

The ‘Showcase Your Cheez Whiz Personality’ contest has participants explaining in 100 words or less why their love of Cheez Whiz makes them worthy of attending the VIP series finale party.

Promotional efforts include four weeks of national spots on CTV, printed contest details on Cheez Whiz packaging and ongoing promotional initiatives at the retail level.

The last season of Corner Gas (Season 5) finished its 19-episode run at an average viewership of 1.3 million.

The season will premiere Oct. 13 at 9:30 pm ET on CTV, and on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 8 pm ET/PT on The Comedy Network.
