Crowd-sourced news site buys online rumour mill

NowPublic is buying Truemors, the brainchild of Guy Kawasaki.

Vancouver-based crowd-sourced news site NowPublic has bought Truemors, a website dedicated to the free flow of the news rumour mill and the brainchild of venture capitalist Guy Kawasaki, who will join NowPublic as chair of the advisory board.

Truemors was created to enable users to read, write, discuss and rate rumours posted by others. Truemors users are not required to be journalists, run websites or blog to ‘tell the world.’

NowPublic CEO Leonard Brody says the buy will expand the site’s reporting capabilities. ‘Our ever-growing group of reporters is changing the way news is produced and distributed,’ says Brody.

Google Trends reports that NowPublic.com‘s traffic is approaching 25,000 daily unique visitors.
