Teletoon’s fall schedule has 11 new series, with five marked for daytime premieres and six on the fall sked for the post-9:30 pm adult/teen block, Detour.
The main net will give viewers sneak peeks of many titles in advance of their premiere dates during Flash Forward, a Saturday/Sunday event at 8:30 am throughout August. Teletoon.com will stream sneak peek eps one week prior to their on-air Flash Forward air dates.
Here’s what’s on the fall sked…
TELETOON:
Ben 10: Alien Force premieres Saturday, September 6 in the 7 pm time slot, as part of a Ben 10 back-to-school event, before slipping into a regular time slot on Sundays at 9:30 am. The show, the next chapter of Ben 10, one of the highest rated shows on both Teletoon and Cartoon Network in the US, is about a 15-year-old’s mission to find his grandfather and defeat the evil DNAliens, a race bent on destroying the galaxy. A sneak peek will air Sunday, August 17 at 8:30 am.
Chowder will premiere on Saturday, September 6 at 11 am, with a sneak peek on the sked for Saturday, August 23 at 8:30 am. The new Cartoon Network series is from SpongeBob Squarepants creator C.H. Greenblatt. It’s a food-filled comedy about a young apprentice who spends his days learning from a magical chef.
The Spectacular Spider-Man will premiere Sunday, September 7 at 10:30 am, with a sneak peek on Sunday, August 24 at 8:30 am. The Sony/Marvel Comics animated series is about the education of Peter Parker, four months after the famous spider bite.
Out of Jimmy’s Head will premiere Saturday, September 6 at 7:30 am, with a sneak peek on Saturday, August 16 at 8:30 am, and repeats at 12:30 pm. The show is a series extension of the movie Re-Animated, which premiered on Teletoon this spring. The comedy is about Jimmy Roberts, who had a brain transplant with a cartoonist and now sees cartoons wherever he goes.
World of Quest will premiere Monday, September 1 at 6 pm and airs Monday to Friday in that time slot, with a sneak peek on Sunday, August 10 at 8:30 am. The show is an action comedy about Prince Nestor, who is on a mission to save his parents from the evil Lord Spite. He’s protected by the muscled Quest, who doesn’t care what happens and would prefer to be left alone. A magic spell forces Quest to protect Nestor.
Teletoon will premiere new eps for returning shows that include Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue (Saturdays 8:30 am and 2:30 pm, beginning September 6), Bakugan (Sundays 7:30 am, beginning September 7), My Gym Partner’s a Monkey (Saturdays noon, beginning September 6) and The Batman (Sundays 10 am, beginning September 7).
TELETOON DETOUR:
Life’s a Zoo will air Mondays and Fridays at 11 pm and Saturdays at 1:30 am, beginning September 1. The show is about seven strangers locked in a mansion in the middle of a Saskatchewan wheat field. They destroy one another in order to win their luxurious abode and maybe even become famous. It’s filled with the usual reality TV suspects – the vain, the villainous, the meek and the manic – but in this case, the participants are animals. Each ep features a music video from a Canadian band.
American Dad will air Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 pm and midnight and Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 2:30 am, beginning Monday, September 1. The Fox show was co-created by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) and looks at the family of Stan Smith, a CIA agent and zealous American patriot with a repressed party-girl wife, an ultra-liberal 18-year-old daughter and a geeky son as well as a sarcastic grey alien and a talking German goldfish.
Lucy, Daughter of the Devil will air Wednesday at 11 pm and Thursday at 1:30 am, beginning September 3. The show comes from Adult Swim. Lucy is the spawn of Satan, a 21-year-old art graduate who struggles with her father’s wishes for her to fulfill her destiny as the Antichrist and her growing feelings for DJ Jesús.
The Critic will air Wednesday and Thursday at 10 pm and midnight and Thursday and Friday at 2:30 am, beginning September 3. It’s produced by Mike Reiss and James L. Brooks (The Simpsons) and stars Jon Lovitz.
Code Monkeys will air Thursday at 11 pm and Friday at 1:30 am, beginning September 4. The show follows the exploits of two video game programmers whose lives take a chaotic turn when the company they are working for, GameAvision, is taken over by a fanatical Texan businessman. The series is animated using a colour palette and sound effects reminiscent of 8 and 16-bit video games.
Father of the Pride will air Friday at 10 pm and midnight and Saturday 2:30 am, beginning September 5. The CGI sitcom follows the lives of a family of white lions living in Las Vegas.
TELETOON RETRO:
Nine classic cartoons are joining the Teletoon Retro lineup on September 1. On the list of series new to the net are The Smurfs (every day 8 am and 8 pm), Wait Till Your Father Gets Home (every day 9 pm and 5:30 am), Fraggle Rock (every day 9 am and 7:30 pm), Alvin and the Chipmunks (every day 8:30 am and 8:30 pm), Spider-Man (every day 6:30 am and 11 pm), The Banana Splits Adventure Show (every day at 2 pm), 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo (airs as part of the Scooby-Doo rotation 7:30 am and 5:30 pm), The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries (airs as part of the Scooby-Doo rotation) and Reboot (every day at 6 am, 1 pm and 11:30 pm).
