Brand new gig for Shopping Bags experts

The Shopping Bags hosts will test cookbook recipes to give their viewers a taste for their money.

The hosts of the successful Canadian series The Shopping Bags will tackle a new series on the W Network this fall. Shot in Vancouver, it’s called Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag.

‘We’re excited to be turning our attention to the kitchen, a room filled with so many product-testing opportunities,’ comments co-host Anna Wallner, who is also president of Worldwide Bag Media, W’s production partner for the new series. ‘But the potential for disaster is big since we’re no experts when it comes to cooking!’

Wallner (pictured) and her hosting partner will try out recipes, ingredients, appliances and food-prep techniques to gauge whether the average cook could easily re-create the same meals. At the end of each episode, a guest chef or food expert will evaluate the meals to decide whether the cookbooks are accurate and worth their price.

‘When The Shopping Bags launched in 2001, W Network knew we had a winning combination with Anna and Kristina,’ says Joanna Webb, W’s VP of programming. ‘With Anna and Kristina’s Grocery Bag, we’re thrilled to take [their] talents and friendship in a new direction on a subject that is dear to us all… food.’

Corus Entertainment’s W Network is watched by 10 million viewers each month and targets a female audience through the research initiative the W Her Report.
