YTV is reshaping its Sunday night programming with an all-new, all-movie format.
Big Fun Movies will launch Jan. 2 at 2 p.m. with three back-to-back movies. The block will be hosted by Laura, a former actor on YTV’s System Crash and the host of a weekly series of interstitials on the channel. Sponsorship opportunities for the block are available.
Big Fun Movies will be promoted on-air on YTV with 30-second spots as well as online at YTV.com.
‘Movies have always been a big draw for our audience, especially on the weekend, and Big Fun Movies is a terrific way to make Sunday afternoon and evening a destination for the best in family films,’ Ted Ellis, VP, kids/family programming, Corus Television, said in a release.
In addition to the new programming block, YTV is also introducing two new shows this January, Pound Puppies and Almost Naked Animals. Pound Puppies (26 x 30) is an animated series based on the ’80s toys of the same name, following a team of dogs who find homes for other dogs. The show starts Jan. 4 at 12 p.m. in the Playtime block.
Almost Naked Animals (26 x 30) is another animated series, starring – wait for it – ‘a cast of shaved, underwear-clad animals who live in a beachfront hotel called The Copabanana.’ A Canadian series, Almost Naked Animals starts Jan. 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the Crunch programming block.
