Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+, all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen, for August 20-26, 2007.
News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm climbed three spots to #5 with an average minute audience of 1.283 million viewers (up from 1.249 million on the previous week’s national chart). The net’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm stepped up one spot to #13 with 884,000 (down from one million). Global’s National at 5:30 pm climbed five spots to #14 with 883,000 (up from 870,000), while News Hour at 6 pm jumped seven spots to #18 with 783,000 (down from 805,000). CTV National News at 11 pm was up two spots to #21 with 756,000 (down from 808,000). CBC’s Coronation Street at 7 pm climbed five spots to #22 with 734,000 (up from 725,000). Global’s The Young & The Restless at 4:30 pm jumped four spots to #23 with 700,000 (down from 706,000). CBC’s National News stepped up three spots to #27 with 612,000 (down from 653,000).
Monday: CTV ruled the night again without competition on the chart. The net’s Canadian Idol 9 pm broadcast raked in 1.643 million viewers (up from 1.589 million) and fell from the top spot to #2. CSI: Miami at 10 pm took 1.319 million (up from 999,000) and shot up 11 spots to #4. Corner Gas hit #26 with 613,000 viewers (down from its showing of 682,000 two charts ago).
Tuesday: CTV’s America’s Got Talent, airing 8-10 pm, took the final step to #1 with 1.708 million viewers (up from 1.51 million), while Canadian Idol at 7:30 pm hit #8 with 1.181 million (down from 1.315 million). Global’s Big Brother at 9 pm climbed one spot to #9 with 1.072 million (down from 1.162 million). CTV’s Law & Order: SVU won 10 pm with 954,000 (down from 1.254 million) at #11.
Wednesday: CTV’s CSI: New York at 10 pm won the night with 907,000 viewers (down from 960,000). The net’s Criminal Minds took 828,000 viewers at 9 pm and 806,000 at 8 pm, hitting the chart at #16 and #17. Global’s Power of 10 at 8 pm returned to the chart at #20 with 760,000 viewers.
Thursday: With CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance? gone from the chart, Global got what it needed. Big Brother at 8 pm won the night with 1.192 million viewers (up from 929,000) and climbed 10 spots to #7. CTV’s CSI at 8 pm hit #10 with 1.068 million viewers.
Friday: CTV’s Law & Order at 9 pm climbed five spots to #15 with 849,000 viewers (down from 862,000). The net’s Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm hit #29 with 608,000, while Set for Life hit #30 with 602,000 in CTV’s 8 pm time slot.
Saturday: CTV’s W-Five at 7 pm fell six spots to #24 with 664,000 viewers (down from 873,000). The net’s weekend Evening News at 6 pm climbed five spots to #19 with a Saturday/Sunday average of 779,000 viewers (down from 807,000).
Sunday: CBC stayed strong for a third week with Sunday Night News, airing 10-10:10 pm and taking #3 with 1.536 million viewers (up from 1.29 million) and a Sunday night movie, airing 8-10:50 pm, that took #6 with 1.214 million viewers (down from 1.492 million). CTV’s Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm hit #25 with 652,000 viewers (down from 661,000), while the net’s Cold Case at 8 pm hit #28 with 610,000 viewers.
