Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+, all times ET), according to BBM/Nielsen for July 9-15.
News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm climbed two spots to #2 with an average minute audience of 1.22 million viewers (up from 1.089 million on the previous week’s chart). CTV’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood at 7:30 pm jumped 12 spots to #6 with 926,000 (up from 818,000). Global’s National at 5:30 pm climbed three spots to #14 with 783,000 (down from 823,000), while News Hour at 6 pm jumped five spots to #15 with 769,000 (down from 792,000). CTV National News at 11 pm climbed three spots to #16 with 746,000 (down from 815,000). CTV’s Dr. Phil at 5 pm showed up at #20 with 625,000. Global’s The Young & The Restless at 4:30 pm climbed two spots to #22 with 615,000 (down from 679,000). CBC’s Coronation Street at 7 pm stayed at #26 with 570,000 (up from 537,000).
Monday: Holding #1 on the Top 30, CTV’s Canadian Idol average for Monday and Tuesday at 9 pm was 1.379 million viewers (up from 1.252 million). At 10 pm, CTV’s CSI: Miami fell one spot to #7 with 914,000 (down from 945,000). CTV’s On the Lot took the 8 pm time slot, hitting the chart at #24, with 592,000.
Tuesday: Three shows (other than Canadian Idol – see Monday note) made a mark on Tuesday. Global’s Big Brother at 9 pm hit #8 with 865,000 viewers – beating the show’s Thursday numbers. CTV’s Criminal Minds at 8 pm hit the chart at #19 with 639,000 (down from its 1.234 million at #2 on the previous week’s Wednesday). Global’s House at 8 pm tumbled 19 spots to #28 with 558,000 (down from 1.013 million).
Wednesday: CTV’s Canadian Idol at 9:30 pm hit #4 with 1.079 million (up from 1.054 million). The net’s So You Think You Can Dance?, from 8-9:30 pm, averaged 1.038 million and hit #5. Global’s American Inventor at 9 pm climbed six spots to #23 with 612,000 (down from 711,000). CTV’s Traveler at 10 pm came back to #27 with 569,000.
Thursday: CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance? at 9 pm won the night, hitting the chart at #3 and raking in 1.094 million viewers. Global’s Big Brother at 8 pm won that time slot but fell four spots to #9 with 815,000 (down from 1.08 million) against CTV’s CSI, which climbed three spots and attracted 813,000 (down from 933,000). CSI: New York at 10 pm won that time slot with 784,000 viewers (down from 1.025 million on the previous chart’s Wednesday night). Global’s Shark at 10 pm hit #30 with 540,000 viewers.
Friday: CTV reclaimed the night’s top win with Law & Order: CI at 10 pm hitting #18 and attracting 705,000 viewers. Global’s Bones at 8 pm climbed one spot to #21 with 618,000 (down from 738,000).
Saturday: CTV’s America’s Got Talent at 10 pm was the only series to make the list. It hit #25 and earned 589,000 viewers.
Sunday: CTV’s Law & Order: SVU at 10 pm won the night again, staying at #11 with 799,000 viewers (down from 986,000). Global’s Big Brother at 8 pm won that time slot again, hitting #12 with 798,000 (down from 850,000). CTV’s Cold Case at 9 pm won that time slot, climbing one spot to #29 with 543,000 (down from 615,000).
