The CBC’s Stanley Cup Finals took #1 on this week’s national chart, raking in an average minute audience of 2.5 million for Monday and Wednesday at 8 pm.
Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+, all times ET) according to BBM/Nielsen for June 4-10, 2007.
News and daily shows: CTV Evening News at 6 pm stayed at #3 with 1.391 million viewers (up from 1.191 million on the previous week’s national chart). The net’s Jeopardy/Access Hollywood, weekdays at 7:30 pm, climbed one spot to #7 with 975,000 viewers (up from 943,000). Global’s National at 5:30 pm fell one spot to #15 with 861,000 viewers (up from 756,000), while the net’s News Hour at 6 pm stayed at #22 with 757,000 (up from 681,000). Global’s The Young & The Restless at 4:30 pm fell five spots to #29 with 662,000 viewers (down 10,000 from the previous week’s average). The CTV National News at 11 pm, for Monday through Sunday, fell two spots to #23, earning an average of 743,000 viewers (up from 693,000).
Primetime drama:
Monday: CTV won the night in every time slot, with no rival on the Top 30. CSI: Miami at 10 pm took #8 on the national chart with 968,000 viewers (up from 944,000). Criminal Minds at 9 pm hit #11 with 906,000, while the show also took 8 pm, hitting #24 with 725,000 viewers.
Tuesday: Only two shows made the national chart. CTV’s Canadian Idol, airing 8-9:30 pm, took #2 with 1.462 million viewers. Global’s House at 9 pm raked in 1.072 million (down from the previous week’s spike to 2.642 million) and hit the chart at #6.
Wednesday: For the second night, CTV took every time slot, with no competition showing up on the Top 30. So You Think You Can Dance? at 9 pm won the night, hitting #5 and raking in 1.183 million viewers (up slightly from 1.127 million). Traveler at 10 pm hit #18 and earned 823,000 (up from 803,000). CSI: New York at 8 pm rested at #25 and earned 720,000.
Thursday: CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance? at 9 pm hit #4 and raked in 1.234 million viewers (up from 1.077 million), winning the time slot without a rival strong enough for the Top 30. But there was a close battle for the 8 pm time slot – and Global’s Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? came out on top, hitting #13 with 882,000 viewers (up from 801,000) against CTV’s Pirate Master, which hit #14 with 865,000 viewers (a fall from 1.077 million). Global’s glory didn’t stick around for the 10 pm time slot, as the net failed to reach the Top 30 against CTV’s CSI, which earned 823,000 this week (down from 901,000).
Friday: CTV’s Law & Order at 10 pm hit #12 on the chart with 899,000 viewers (up from 673,000). Global’s Bones was the only other show to earn a Top 30 number (#26) on Friday, earning 716,000 viewers in the 8 pm time slot.
Saturday: We don’t need no stinkin’ TV shows on Saturday night! No scripted drama here. The CTV Evening News at 6 pm for Saturday and Sunday did hit #21 with a 765,000 average.
Sunday: The CBC did well on Sunday, winning the night with 954,000 viewers watching the Sunday Night Movie at 8 pm (#8), and the morning with Coronation Street hitting #27, #28, and #30 with 691,000 viewers at 9:30 am, 679,000 viewers at 9 am, and 641,000 viewers at 8:30 am. At 10 pm, CTV’s Law & Order: SVU got the night’s second-highest numbers, hitting #10 on the chart with 937,000 viewers (up from 703,000). The CBC’s Sunday Night News at 10 pm earned a healthy 839,000 viewers, resting at #16 on the chart. At 9 pm, CTV’s Cold Case hit #19 with 804,000 viewers. Global’s The Simpsons at 8 pm earned 768,000 and #20.
