Teletoon fan gets animated for Reese Puffs

Teletoon is tying Hershey cereal and Maynards candies into online games and offering fans a chance to get animated.

Teletoon launched the ‘Take 6Teen Casting Call Contest’ yesterday to give a lucky youngster the opportunity of appearing alongside Jonesy, Nikki and Jude in a special fall episode of 6Teen (third season) – the net’s #1 show among kids 6-11.

On-air spots and online banners for Reese Puffs cereal at Teletoon.com drive users to the contest microsite, where viewers can sign up. An additional online game, Grind the Grains, puts users on a skateboard to try avoiding obstacles and picking up items like milk and cereal – ultimately playing for additional chances to win.

The victor will get a trip to Toronto for a tour of the 6Teen studio, where they’ll record lines for their role. On top of other merchandise prize packs for the show and Teletoon, the winner will also receive a follow-up DVD depicting the creation of their character, including their in-studio work. A hometown screening party for the winner and 15 friends caps off the contest, which closes July 4.

Teletoon also launched another contest yesterday to get gamers pumped about four new Maynards candies. Gamers have four weeks to navigate an online branded world and enter to win prizes like MP3 players and a game console, along with prize packs of candy. The contest rewards players with bonus entries for getting friends in on the contest, while the game itself awards points for picking up Fruit Gums, Juicy Squirts, Fruit Mania and Milkies.

Toronto-based ZenithOptimedia arranged the Reese Puffs promo, while Astral Media’s in-house creative team arranged the Maynards contest. Astral Media shares ownership of Teletoon with Corus Entertainment.
