Here are the national winners (for all persons 2+, all times ET) according to BBM/Nielsen – April 23-29, 2007.
Monday: CTV’s CSI: Miami at 10 pm won the night’s highest numbers, earning an average minute audience of 2.244 million viewers (way up from 1.888 million on the previous week’s chart) with no competition on the Top 30. Round one of CBC’s NHL Playoffs took the second highest numbers with a 2.008 million average, from 9 pm to midnight, but it didn’t put too much of a dent in the other nets’ offerings. Global’s 24 at 9 pm earned a solid 1.229 million (down slightly from 1.305 million). CTV got 1.681 million viewers from 8-9:30 pm with Dancing with the Stars (up from 1.516 million). Global’s Heroes at 8 pm took last place on the Top 30, earning 903,000.
Tuesday: American Idol on CTV at 8 pm won 2.621 million (down from 2.843 million), and the net took 10 pm with Law & Order: SVU‘s 1.254 million (down from 1.316 million), keeping contenders off the Top 30 for those two time slots. Global’s House stayed strong with 2.527 million (up from 2.372 million) in the 9 pm time slot, winning against CTV’s Dancing with the Stars, which got 1.612 million (up from 1.352 million).
Wednesday: The CBC’s NHL Playoffs Round Two faced off, airing Wednesday through Sunday for an average of 1.6 million viewers. Only two dramas, both from CTV, made the national Top 30 on this chart. From 8 pm to 10 pm, American Idol averaged 2.402 million viewers (down slightly from 2.417 million). CSI: New York took over at 10 pm to earn an average of 1.88 million (up from 1.679 million).
Thursday: CSI on CTV won the night without a contest. The show raked in 2.845 million (up from 1.068 million) at 9 pm. Global couldn’t make a mark on that time slot, but it did win 8 pm with Survivor: Fiji earning 2.049 million (up from 1.87 million) against CTV’s Grey’s Anatomy, which got 1.661 million (down from 2.377 million). At 10 pm, CTV won with 1.703 viewers watching ER (up slightly from 1.61 million) and Global reeled in 1.21 million with Shark (up from 1.078 million).
Friday: CTV counted three winners against Global’s only show to make the chart. Law & Order at 10 pm kept its loyal Friday night audience, earning 1.295 million (up from 1.006 million). Ghost Whisperer at 8 pm got 1.245 million. And Close to Home at 9 pm got 935,000. Global’s Numb3rs, while it lost the 10 pm time slot, did outrank Close to Home on the Top 30, with an average 952,000 viewers.
Saturday: As mentioned on the Wednesday note (above), the NHL Playoffs got a 1.6 million average from Wednesday through Sunday, making it the only title on this chart’s Saturday night.
Sunday: Desperate Housewives replaced The Amazing Race as CTV’s crown-holder for the last night of the week, although both shows delivered gains for the net. The 9 pm time slot saw 2.059 million viewers watching Desperate Housewives (up from 1.901 million) against Global’s Family Guy, which got 1.144 million. The Amazing Race gave CTV 8 pm with 1.974 million (up from 1.908 million), while Global’s half-hour Simpsons earned a healthy 1.011 million out of the 8 pm starting gate and 1.045 million for the second half of the hour (up slightly from 1.007 million). CTV made a mark at 7 pm with 1.014 million watching Cold Case, higher numbers than the net got for Criminal Minds, although that show also saw gains with 978,000 viewers (up from 958,000).
