Entrepreneurial Viking Ragnar Lothbrok will live to plunder again with the news that Shaw Media has ordered a third season of Vikings for its History channel.

Shaw Media has greenlit a further 10 episodes of the historical drama in the midst of the series’ second season, currently on air. The series airs on History in Canada on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Vikings is the number one program on History and earned seven Screenie nominations earlier this year. According to Shaw, the second season is currently averaging 900,000 viewers (2+) per episode and just over 500,000 in the 25-to-54 demo.

Production on season three will begin this summer.
