Toronto-based Corus Entertainment is calling on country music fans to audition online to win a cushy summer job as a host for CMT Canada. The contest straps on its boots starting Monday, April 16 at castingcall.cmt.ca and kicks ’em off again when the job goes to the candidate with the most votes.
During this month-long window, would-be CMT hosts can upload three-minute audition videos. Sixteen semi-finalists will be presented at the website, where it goes to a vote. The top five finalists complete a final video assignment by June 14. The winner, aside from a summer salary and a shot at fame, gets free accommodation for the season, plus clothing allowance. The audience, meanwhile, gets a chance to exert control, and will have to live with the democratic casting results (which will hopefully avoid ‘vote for the worst’ sabotage efforts).
The net’s website boasts 3.7 million monthly impressions.
In case you missed it, this strategy mimics contests Corus has recently launched for clients (read MiC‘s coverage of the company’s Frosted Flakes and Sunlight promos in March).
