Teletoon ramps up spring promos, giveaways

Fresh off a recent re-branding, Canuck tooncaster Teletoon is heading into the spring season with a clever traffic ploy - a bundle of promotions designed to trigger kid viewer participation.

First out of the gate in Teletoon’s spring promos is the Wonder + Pump Up The + contest. The gimmick is that the more kids enter the contest – which launched yesterday and runs until March 29 – the more valuable the prizes will be. Viewers can check in at teletoon.com to watch the prizes get bigger and better each day.

On March 11, the net began airing the first part of an interactive double episode of Carl2, allowing kids to vote online or via cell phone to decide who wins the show’s ‘Teen Superstar’ competition. The winner will be announced later this week during the second part of the episode. Every online or cell phone vote is also entered into a contest to win swag from the series.

The net’s seventh annual My Little Pony contest launched yesterday and will run until April 9. Again, entries will be accepted at teletoon.com for a chance to win a My Little Pony party and toys. The My Little Pony special The Runaway Rainbow is set to air on April 6 and 9 in support.

To round out March Break efforts, a contest to win a DVD of Warner Bros.’ Happy Feet DVD, Happy Feet socks and a mini fridge also started yesterday at the kidcasters’ website.
