It seems only natural that the Extreme Makeover franchise would eventually make its way to the trendy issue of obesity and weight loss, and this summer, it will be so.
Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition is the only new show to premiere on Citytv this summer, joining the prime-time schedule on Monday, May 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The show will follow the weight loss journeys of eight ‘super obese’ people over the course of a year, led by weight loss champion Chris Powell.
Viewers looking for a little less reality in their reality programming can catch up with the return of The Bachelorette, season 7, which premieres Monday May 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. However, the show will return to its regular time slot, 8 p.m., on Monday May 30. This season, it will be Ashley Herbert who looks for love and hands out roses on the long-running series.
The Bachelor Pad is also back this summer, premiering its second season on Aug. 8 at 8 p.m. in simulcast with ABC. This series is slightly less about finding true love and more about outrageous ‘dating’ shenanigans as former contestants of both Bachelor and Bachelorette series vie to win a cash prize.
The summertime reality streak continues with the premiere of the sixth season of America’s Got Talent on Tuesday, May 31 at 9pm ET/PT and the ninth season of Hell’s Kitchen, which returns in all its raging glory on Tuesday, July 19 at 8 p.m. Also returning to the reality-themed summer sked is season 2 of Jerry Seinfeld’s Marriage Ref on Sunday, June 26 at 10 p.m.
Finally, fan favourite Murdoch Mysteries is back for its fourth season on Tuesday, June 7 at 8 p.m., following handsome William Murdoch as he solves mysteries in 19th century Toronto.
