Lost returns to 1.58 million

The long-awaited return of Lost to CTV failed to topple the numbers enjoyed by CSI: New York, American Idol, and CTV Evening News last Wednesday. Critics to the south are saying the series is losing steam, but it still earned more Canadian viewers than Global's Bones.

Lost returned on Feb. 7 and attracted 1.58 million viewers for CTV. The show won the Wednesday 8 pm time slot against Global’s Bones (which measured 1.26 million). Overall, Lost earned CTV less viewers than the CTV Evening News (1.9 million viewers, a season-high) and American Idol (2.76 million), which took second place after CSI: New York. The one-hour Lost: Survival Guide special attracted 1.1 million viewers leading into Lost.

In the US, the show logged 14.68 million viewers on ABC, down by 15% from last year the adult 18-49 demo. The fall 2006 premiere of Lost on CTV, in simulcast with ABC, raked in 2 million viewers on Oct. 4. The Nov. 11 finale, in the 8 pm time slot, attracted just under one million viewers (not in simulcast).

CTV’s CSI: New York drew its largest Canadian audience ever with the guest star appearance of Nelly Furtado last Wednesday, raking in 3.44 million viewers for the 10 pm time slot and winning the biggest numbers of the night.
