Canwest’s DIY Network is setting Canadians up to take home renos into their own hands this fall with two new series and a slate of returning programming.
The specialty channel, which debuted last fall, premieres Bath Crashers (13×30) on Tuesday Sept. 7 at 10 p.m. and House Crashers (13×30) on Wednesday Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. Both shows will features dramatic home renovations; Bath Crashers follows host Matt Muenster as he ‘ambushes’ homeowners on shopping trips and follows them home for a surprise bathroom renovation, while House Crashers follows the same plot for surprise room renos. Both shows will be promoted on air on DIY.
Targeting adults 25 to 54 with a male skew, DIY Network has several themed sponsorship packages available for its programming this season, a Canwest spokesperson confirmed. Examples include ‘Boys and Their Toys’ (which would include sponsorship of shows such as Man Caves and Cool Tools) and ‘Get organized,’ which would include shows with an organizational theme. Customized sponsorship packages and promotions are available as well.
Returning programming premieres will start the same week as well, with new seasons of Bathroom Renovations (weekdays at 4 p.m.), Kitchen Renovations (weekdays at 4:30 p.m.) and Sweat Equity (weekdays at 8 p.m.) all starting on Sept. 6.
The channel’s male-skewing sensibilities shine through with the return of Man Caves on Tuesday Sept. 7 in a two-timeslot shot, airing at 9 and 9:30 p.m. and Cool Tools is back Sept. 9, on Thursdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m. Bathtastic cleans up Friday nights when it returns Sept. 10 at 9 and 9:30 p.m., with Kitchen Impossible following the same night in the 10 and 10:30 p.m. slots. All will be promoted on-air on DIY.
DIY Network and HGTV will also be promoted at the fall home shows this year in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.
