Rethink biggest winner at Lotus Awards
Engaging ambient media at its finest wowed the jurists, who gave top honour to a wild posting awareness campaign for the Vancouver Sculpture Biennale - which inspired folks all over the city to get involved.
The annual Lotus Awards, which have been celebrating creative excellence in BC since 1989, were handed out by the dozens last evening in more than 40 categories. Tapped for the lion’s shares were Rethink, DDB Canada and TBWA/Vancouver.
The Best of Show Lotus went to Vancouver’s Rethink agency for its wildly successful ‘Boob, Stove, Element, Shelf’ – an interactive awareness campaign for the Vancouver Sculpture Biennale, an international art show that erects public art sculptures around the city. What CDs Chris Staples and Ian Grais came up with were highly tactile installations of 1,000 vacuum-formed shelves upon which they placed objects they invited the public to steal and replace with other things – creating a community art project.
