Canada’s first personalized weather service to launch

Wondering what to pack for that upcoming trip to the cottage or wherever? You'll soon be able to check out the temp on 'Forecast 4 Me.'

Yesterday, CanWest MediaWorks announced a partnership with Madison, Wisconsin-based MyWeather that will soon deliver this country’s first personalized online local weather service – ‘Forecast 4 Me.’ Beginning with Ontario, Global Television will provide customized forecasts for up to four local zones per individual. These will be targeted by postal code and delivered directly to subscribers via e-mail, as well as available online.

Forecast 4 Me subscribers will receive the same services as MyWeather currently provides to nearly two million people elsewhere: personalized e-mail messages from their local Global News meteorologist twice daily; weather trivia; live links to a ‘Personal Forecast Page’ featuring seven-day local, national and world weather; satellite and radar imaging; recreation, air-quality and pollen updates; and hour-by-hour weather information for up to four locations (e.g. home, cottage, loved ones).

Ontario Tourism and CanWest are sponsoring the first few weeks of Forecast 4 Me’s debut and running a contest with Ontario getaways as prizes. But advertising and sponsorship opps are on offer for other marketers thereafter, and can be parlayed across any or all of CanWest’s platform.
