OWN Canada to premiere Million Dollar Neighbourhood

The series challenges 100 families to collectively raise $1 million in 10 weeks to ease their financial problems.

Million Dollar Neighbourhood is set to join the OWN Canada schedule this January.

The reality competition series challenges 100 families to collectively raise $1 million in 10 weeks.

Million Dollar Neighbourhood, to debut Sunday, Jan. 22 at 8 p.m. ET, will see families in Aldergrove, British Columbia, swap, scrimp and save so that each individual household increases their net worth every week by an average $1000.

The one-hour series, co-hosted by financial expert Bruce Sellery and clinical psychologist Dr. Joti Samra, will aim to help neighbours tackle problems of ballooning debt or over-spending with tough love and uncompromising directness.

“In Million Dollar Neighbourhood viewers will undoubtedly identify with the pitfalls that these families face, from mindless spending to letting back-taxes pile up, to overspending on daily necessities in favour of convenience,” Vibika Bianchi, a VP of original programming at Corus Entertainment, explained in a statement.

Sponsorship opportunities for the series are open, according to a Corus Entertainment spokesperson.
