Rogers Broadcasting is looking for a new director of original programming as Claire Freeland gets set to step down from the series development post.

Freeland, who joined Rogers Media’s TV division two years ago, was responsible for guiding the original Canadian scripted and unscripted programming strategy across a range of assets, including City, OLN, bio, G4 and FX Canada.

“Claire has been a wonderful asset to Rogers Media and we wish her all the best,” said Malcolm Dunlop, EVP of programming and operations at Rogers Media.

No details were available on Freeland’s next career move.

In the meantime, Rogers Media is looking to fill the vacant post to maintain momentum in original Canadian programming.

Before joining Rogers, Freeland was the director of original programming at Corus Entertainment, where she created unscripted original programming for W Network, CMT Canada, Cosmo TV, YTV, and OWN Canada.

Her TV credits at Rogers include the multi-cam comedy Package Deal, a second season of the sperm-donor sitcom Seed, and Mother Up!, starring Eva Longoria, which is part of City’s mid-season slate in winter 2014.

And for OLN, Freeland developed The Project: Guatemala, along with Storage Wars Canada and the returning series The Liquidator.
