Rogers and Larche swap radio stations

Rogers likes Larche's Kitchener station. Larche likes Rogers' Orillia station. So they're gonna trade 'em.

Rogers Broadcasting and Waterloo-based Larche Communications have decided to swap two radio stations. Rogers will acquire CIKZ FM (branded as KICX 106 country format) in Kitchener, while Larche will take the adult hits station CICX FM (105.9 Jack FM) in Orillia.

Larche president Paul Larche says the swap ‘makes strategic sense for our company. It will allow us to better compete and consolidate our efforts in central Ontario, where we already own CICZ FM Midland.’

Rogers Media radio CEO Gary Miles says the exchange ‘makes perfect sense for both companies. We both share the same operating philosophies and commitment to broadcasting. CIKZ FM will make a great addition to our Kitchener holdings.’

The deal must be approved by the CRTC.
