Cosmopolitan TV is set to launch on Feb. 14, but W viewers will get a sneak peek of the new channel every Saturday night in January from 7-9 pm with a two-hour CosmoTV programming block consisting of Sex and the City episodes.
On New Year’s Day starting at 6 am, an all-day ‘Diet D-Day’ marathon will run. Included are special episodes of The Shopping Bags and You Are What You Eat: Gillian Moves In, airing from 6 am-11 am. At 11 am (repeating 11:30 pm), the premiere episode of The Truth About Size Zero will be broadcast. The show follows British celeb Louise Redknapp as she tries to rapidly drop to a US size zero. Along the way, she learns about the health risks of being extremely thin and visits with former anorexia suffer Mel C of the Spice Girls. At 3 pm, Extreme: Dead Skinny Celebrities will look at the negative health effects of the exercise and eating regimes of Hollywood celebrities.
Then there are back-to-back episodes of the three-part series Three Fat Brides, One Skinny Dress airing from 4-7 pm. Diet expert and author Dr. Gillian McKeith helps three bulging brides-to-be lose weight by giving them a strict yet sensible regimen of diet and exercise, with one bride winning a designer wedding gown. Concluding that day’s weight-themed marathon at 8 pm is Extreme: Skinny Celebrity Mums, a one-hour documentary profiling celebrity moms who lose their pregnancy weight in a matter of weeks with dieting and bizarre exercise routines.
On Jan. 2, there will be back-to-back episodes of Style By Jury and Maxed Out, plus two episodes of Your Money or Your Wife from 5:30-6:30 pm. Viewers can learn to feel good about their bodies with back-to-back episodes of How To Look Good Naked on Jan. 3. The marathon concludes on Jan. 4 with back-to-back episodes of You Are What You Eat: Gillian Moves In and You Are What You Eat: Detox Special at 8 pm.
Queer Eye for the Straight Girl (pictured, a spin-off of the hit makeover series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, will premiere Jan. 9 at 10 pm. A team of ‘gal pals’ – British lifestyle guru Danny Teeson, Honey Labrador (The Lady), Robert Laughlin (The Look) and Damon Pease (The Locale) – will give straight women extreme makeovers to prepare them for important moments in their lives.
