TSN has signed two agreements this week to broadcast two of the largest European sporting properties in Canada.

The broadcaster has the exclusive rights to air UEFA Euro 2012 and 2016, and also bought the rights to present the Tour de France as part of a multi-year deal.

The 2012 Euro, hosted by Poland and Ukraine, will feature 16 of Europe’s top national teams in 31 games, and Euro 2016, in France, will feature 24 teams in 51 matches.

TSN, which was one of the Canadian broadcasts of UEFA Euro 2008, also acquired the rights for the UEFA European Under-21 Championships and the UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 as part of the agreement.

RDS and RIS will be the French-language partners for the broadcasts.

The Tour de France agreement will result in coverage of the bike race, which runs from July 2 to 24 this year, on TSN and TSN2 and will be available in HD for the first time in Canada.

The race is made up of 21 stages covering nearly 3,500 kilometres.
