Conspiracy could bring down Western World on Showcase

The State Within, a conspiracy thriller produced by BBC One, is coming to Canada at the end of the month. The online game's got political oomph. Can the conspiracies give Showcase some specialty clout on Monday nights?

The State Within, the seven-part action/thriller that substituted the streets of Hamilton, Ontario for Washington, DC during production last year, is coming back to Canada for a North American premiere on Alliance Atlantis’ Showcase.

Premiering on Jan. 29, the series fills the Monday 10 pm time slot for the specialty channel, appealing to audiences hungry for stylish international conspiracy, espionage and murder set against a contemporary political backdrop. Notable stars Jason Isaacs (Brotherhood, Black Hawk Down, Harry Potter), Sharon Gless (Queer as Folk, Cagney & Lacey) and Ben Daniels (MI-5) lead the cast.

The BBC has already backed up the drama with a microsite that includes an intricate political strategy game for audiences who want to take on the conspiracies themselves.
