Amp’d Mobile has Canadian content deals in the works

In addition to made-in-America content, the company's north-of-the-border subscribers will also get to see domestically produced fare.

Amp’d Mobile has just unveiled its original made-for-mobile 2007 series line-up, and the U.S. slate will also be available to Canadian subscribers via Amp’d Mobile Canada, which launches March 16. The mobile entertainment co has also confirmed that several original Canadian projects are in the works, including a weekly sports talk show hosted by a ‘major hockey personality’ and produced by Luc Robitaile.

The American-inked content deals include agreements with the likes of actor Jack Black (Nacho Libre, King Kong), who will be creating comedy shorts which viewers will then vote on to greenlight which becomes a mobile series. Producer Howard Gordon (24, The X-Files) is producing The Paranormal News for Amp’d, and writer Donick Cary (The Simpsons) is also on tap for some new series. Cary is behind the animated Lil Bush: Resident of the United States series, which is moving from mobile to network television this year.

In late January, Amp’d Mobile Canada announced an exclusive content partnership with MuchMusic.
