The Television Bureau of Canada’s Bessie awards were handed out yesterday in Toronto. Best in Show honours went to Cossette’s Parking Lot/Bus Stop/Construction trio of spots for The Fight Network for best campaign, and Ogilvy & Mather’s Evolution for the Dove Self-Esteem Fund for best single spot.
The gold-winning single spots included both Evolution and the Fight Network’s Parking Lot, plus Wayspa’s Avacadro (Dentsu Canada); the World Wildlife Foundation’s Beautiful Day (DraftFCB Toronto); Fabric Softener for the CFL’s BC Lions (Rethink); Nike’s Other Guys (Taxi Toronto); Canadian Direct Insurance’s Boobarian (Spring Advertising/Vrlak & Company); and Solo Mobile’s House Warming (Rethink).
Gold awards for campaigns went to The Fight Network spots, Future Shop’s three-spot Overdub Sale (Rethink); and Donkey/Catch You Later/Sign Post for the World of Comedy’s International Film Festival (Taxi Toronto). The awards were judged by a nine-member panel of peers from the industry.
