Burnaby, BC-HQ’d Best Buy Canada and its sister company, Future Shop, announced yesterday that Media Experts is its new media AOR. According to Nielsen Media Research, the two brands spent a total of $50.5 million on media buys in 2005.
Media Experts, which has offices in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, is taking over the account from The Media Company/MBS – which was forced to give it up last month due to a conflict of interest that arose when parent company MediaCom acquired the Staples account in Canada, the UK and the US.
Dave Champion, Best Buy Canada’s director of marketing services, says that seven firms participated in his company’s review process. Media Experts won ‘due to its ability to demonstrate that it can successfully execute a dual brand media strategy and approach that would be successful for both Best Buy Canada and Future Shop.
‘Media Experts bring with them a wealth of knowledge and expertise of the media landscape in Canada, which we want to leverage to create a highly successful dual brand media buying strategy,’ he added.
