Former AOL exec to lead JumpTV sales

Toronto's ethnic Internet television has a new exec on board to build sales and develop strategy.

Toronto-based JumpTV.com has appointed William Stephen, a former AOL exec, to take on the role of head of global sales. Stephen will lead the ad sales team, selling both in-stream and on-site ads, as well as develop strategy for the site’s 450 ethnic television channels and global sports properties.

Stephen most recently served as SVP for sales and strategy at LAT34.com, a sports site funded by AOL. Previously, he was director of strategic markets for Time Inc.’s Fortune, Fortune Small Business and Fortune.com, and held various positions at Ziff Davis and International Magazines US.

‘The time spent on JumpTV.com and its partner distribution sites, more than 40 minutes per user session, makes us among the stickiest assets on the web and is of great value to ad buyers,’ says Stephen. ‘Whether appealing to the U.S. basketball fan or the Brazilian soap opera junkie, JumpTV has the inventory to allow advertisers to engage with specific audiences in a meaningful way.’
