Genesis-Vizeum wins Suzuki Canada account

Re-win is actually more like it, as Genesis was the carco's media AOR about a decade ago.

Following a year-end agency search that saw Suzuki Canada choose John St. as its new creative agency, the company announced yesterday that Genesis-Vizeum has been selected as its media AOR.

Genesis had the account from 1994 to 1997, resigning on a conflict-of-interest basis when it acquired Volkswagen Canada as a client. More recently, Suzuki’s media AOR was PHD Canada.

‘We couldn’t be more delighted to be once again part of the Suzuki family,’ says Bruce Claassen, CEO of Genesis-Vizeum and chairman of Aegis Media Canada. ‘It’s a competitive arena, but one that rewards innovative, creative media solutions, and I think our ideas on this front helped secure this relationship.’

Suzuki Canada plans to take advantage of the Aegis Group’s broad footprint in Quebec and Western Canada in addition to Toronto, and to capitalize on its 50-person ‘Digital Center of Excellence,’ as well as its various media specialties – from geo-marketing to sponsorship marketing – as plans evolve and unfold, says the company’s national manager, advertising and public relations, Mike Kurnik.

Suzuki Canada spent over $15 million on measured media in the past year, according to Nielsen Spending reports.
